Word 2016 Intro + File Management
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and knowledge of the keyboard. A course for people who have gaps and want to solidify their experience and feel more comfortable before moving forward. We will create and edit simple letters using Word. Includes copy, cut, paste, open, save vs. save as, print, and fonts. We also cover basic file management, find files, create folders and desktop shortcuts. Instructor Peggy Bruno, a certified teacher, has trained adults in computer applications for many years. She has developed computer courses and trained thousands of adults in computer applications over a 25 year period. She previously worked in corporate marketing and information services. She has also taught Microsoft Office at the community college level. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Word Intermediate Skills
Prerequisite: Word Basics, Microsoft Office Skills or equivalent. Review basic formatting of your Word documents (fonts, line spacing, margins, Format Painter). Delve into bullets, numbering, and other ways to arrange your text. Learn how to create and format your documents using templates, themes, and styles. Move onto creating and customizing tables and inserting page numbers, headers and footers. Then learn how to insert and work with images, clip art, shapes, and SmartArt. Learn how to find and replace text and then finish with customizing the Ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar. Instructor Lance Whitney is a freelance writer for Time, AARP Magazine, PC Magazine, and other websites and publications. He’s written books on Windows 8 and LinkedIn. Previous, he was a system administrator and trainer with Ciba Specialty Chemicals. He’s taught a variety of continuing education courses at Ridgefield Continuing Education for several years. PowerPoint ~ Fast Paced Intro
Prerequisite: Competent word processing skills. Each student will learn to modify an existing presentation as well as create one from scratch. Change text, color schemes, background color, fonts, layout, and slide order. Use our photos or bring some photos of your own. Insert and modify images, pictures, charts, and tables in slides. Add animation, transition movement, and sound to the presentation. Learn to set up slide show timing and a continuous loop for display at an event. Publisher for Windows - 1 on 1 Course
Use Publisher to create newsletters, brochures, flyers, cards, invitations, posters, personalized logo, business cards, stationery, and promotional materials. Import images from other clip art programs, photos, or the Internet. Instructor Lizabeth Doty, a professional educator for over 45 years, has trained students in business applications including word processing and database/spreadsheet management as well as courses in office procedures. She is a Ridgefield resident and is currently Wilton’s Coordinator for Senior Activities. She holds a BS and MA from New York University and an MA from Holy Apostles College.
