A Healthy Taste of Italy Continues
Did you miss the first class in this series conducted last fall? No problem as we will continue to explore the bold flavors and health benefits of authentic Italian cuisine in this session. Participants will prepare nutritious and easy main dishes that incorporate fresh vegetables, whole grains and lean protein from scratch. Various healthy and satisfying sauces that will elevate any pasta dish will also be created from a simple set of ingredients that will have one’s mouth watering in minutes. An additional food supply fee of $10-$12 per class is payable to the instructor. Instructor Laura Torok-Lobelson loves to teach and cook. She holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and has taught science and math at the high school level. Classic Italian Desserts: Ricotta Cheesecake
Indulge your “sweet tooth” without feeling guilty by learning how to create classic Italian desserts that are both delicious and nutritious. In this class, participants will prepare a Torta di Ricotta - a simple, yet classic Ricotta Cheesecake with fresh berries that is creamy and ethereally light as well as learn how this dessert can be part of a well-balanced, healthy diet. Fish Without Fear
The American Heart Association recommends that we consume at least 2 servings of fish a week, particularly fatty-fish. However, most people don’t include fish this often into their meal planning for various reasons. Come “dive into” the culinary versatility of fish and explore their many health benefits. Participants will experiment with various techniques of preparing fish; learn which fish are the healthiest to eat; and discover just how quick and easy delicious fish dishes can be prepared at home by preparing recipes from scratch that will impress family and friends.
