No prior experience required, multi-level workshops. Can be taken in any order and at multiple times. If wearing glasses, also bring glasses appropriate for close work.


Classes are listed in chronological order by date. All classes are in April, May and June.

Beading for All
Make your own beautiful beaded jewelry with guidance from instructor. Learn how to design, use colors and textures with various findings to create a unique piece that will look professional and sure to get you lots of compliments. Beginners or advanced welcome. Bring friends and make it a girls night out - or mother and daughter (age 12 and up). Instructor will supply all necessary material at cost. typical project is $10-20. It could be higher if precious materials are used. Instructor Viola Galetta has been designing, creating, and teaching jewelry and beading for years. She teaches classes at Silvermine Art School and recreation and senior centers.

Pearl Knotting with Silk
Pearl knotting is a technique used to make organic pearl necklaces using silk with needle. Knotting protects the life of pearls, but can also be used with other beads, such as semi precious stones of various sizes. Instructor will supply pearls and silk with needle. Material fee at cost. Instructor will supply all necessary materials; a materials fee of approximately $20, but could be more if more expensive pearls are chosen. is payable to the instructor, Viola Galetta. Wire and Bead Necklace Class
Make your own bead and silver link necklace (or bracelet) while learning simple, fundamental jewelry wire crafting techniques. Dr. Karen Brunjes will provide a selection of beads of various colors, types and sizes from which you will chose and then craft your jewelry. She will share informative stone and technique information throughout the class. Please email ridgefieldcontinuingeducation@gmail.com or phone (203) 431-2812 for materials and tool fee information. A tool usage cost of $10 required for each class (participants can bring or purchase their own tools from Karen instead of incurring the tool usage fee). Materials are additional and should cost less than $40 dependent upon your personal choice of beads used (particularly if glass beads are used). . Instructor Dr. Karen Brunjes, of kbdesignsetc (sold on etsy and galleries in Vermont) and Brunjes Chiropractic, has been crafting jewelry since age seven. She is happy to share her skills in creating custom jewelry with unique textures, colors and the beauty of nature, hand-forged metals, featuring sterling silver, along with unique, natural stones. Leather Wrapped Bracelet

Twist Chain Necklace
This TWIST pattern of interlocking rings is a chain design that is not difficult to accomplish! Learn this chain maille pattern while making your own Sterling Silver chain necklace. The necklace is stunning and unique; this necklace can be worn either in the twisted OR the non-twisted style - TWO NECKLACES IN ONE (see image below)! The Celts, originally, began the art of chain maille for making metal battle armor. Today, we are able to appreciate this clever method to craft artistic jewelry. Sterling silver materials supplied by instructor Karen Brunjes for a fee (to be determined, but less than $60) payable at class; however, the silver price could change if the market price of silver rises before class. Cost could be higher if precious materials are used or if more than one project is made.
