Class Location: Computer classes will be taught at the Continuing Education Center, located in the Venus Municipal Building.

Venus Building = Venus Municipal Building aka "Old High School", corner of East Ridge and Governor St.) - Continuing Education Office

From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, turn onto Governor Street (There is a traffic light). Take Governor Street a short distance (you will cross East Ridge; the Police Station is on the right). Take a left into the parking lot behind the Venus Municipal Building (Near the ball field. Signs say Ridgefield Continuing Education, Kumon Math, Loosen Up Massage, Ridgefield Playhouse, and other organizations). Turn into the first parking area on the left. Park as close to the two story brick building with white trim as possible and enter at the door that faces Governor St., opposite the Police Department.
Signs to Continuing Education are posted. If you need to avoid stairs, there is a disability ramp to an elevator at the rear of this building wing.

If you are using a GPS, you may "trick it" by using the address 52 Governor Street to get to the parking area and entrance at the Governor St. entrance.

Do not enter through the front entrance (Chef's Warehouse) that faces East Ridge because you will not be able to access the part of the building we are in from that entrance.

Word 2016 Intro + File Management
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and knowledge of the keyboard.
A course for people who have gaps and want to solidify their experience and feel more comfortable before moving forward. We will create and edit simple letters using Word. Includes copy, cut, paste, open, save vs. save as, print, fonts, and beginning formulas. We also cover basic file management, find files, create folders and desktop shortcuts. Instructor Peggy Bruno, a certified teacher, has trained adults in computer applications for many years. She has developed computer courses and trained thousands of adults in computer applications over a 25 year period. She previously worked in corporate marketing and information services. She has also taught Microsoft Office at the community college level. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Word Intermediate Skills
Prerequisite: Word Basics, Microsoft Office Skills or equivalent. Review basic formatting of your Word documents (fonts, line spacing, margins, Format Painter). Delve into bullets, numbering, and other ways to arrange your text. Learn how to create and format your documents using templates, themes, and styles. Move onto creating and customizing tables and inserting page numbers, headers and footers. Then learn how to insert and work with images, clip art, shapes, and SmartArt. Learn how to find and replace text and then finish with customizing the Ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar. Instructor Lance Whitney is a freelance writer for Time, AARP Magazine, PC Magazine, and other websites and publications. He’s written books on Windows 8 and LinkedIn. Previous, he was a system administrator and trainer with Ciba Specialty Chemicals. He’s taught a variety of continuing education courses at Ridgefield Continuing Education for several years.

PowerPoint ~ Fast Paced Intro
Prerequisite: Competent word processing skills. Each student will create a slide presentation from scratch. Change text, color schemes, background color, fonts, layout, and slide order. Use our photos or bring some photos of your own. Insert and modify clip art, pictures, charts, and tables in slides. Add animation, transition movement, and sound to the presentation. Learn to set up slide show timing and a continuous loop for display at an event. Instructor Peggy Bruno, a certified teacher, has trained adults in computer applications for many years. Publisher for Windows - 1 on 1 Course
Use Publisher to create newsletters, brochures, flyers, cards, invitations, posters, personalized logo, business cards, stationery, and promotional materials. Import images from other clip art programs, photos, or the Internet. Instructor Lizabeth Doty, a professional educator for over 45 years, has trained students in business applications including word processing and database/spreadsheet management as well as courses in office procedures. She is a Ridgefield resident and is currently Wilton’s Coordinator for Senior Activities. She holds a BS and MA from New
