Spanish ~ Evening & Day (Lots of classes - keep scrolling)

Spanish: Beginner, Part 1 ~ Day & Evening
For students with little or no previous Spanish experience. Class covers basic vocabulary, pronunciation, elementary conversation, sentence structure, and basic grammar using the present and past tenses. Good background for travel to a Spanish speaking country. The course focuses on how to carry on simple conversations in Spanish, as spoken in Latin America. Please bring the text, Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way (Barrons, 4th Ed.) to class. Instructor Bob Kibel was a Court Interpreter in Spanish and German for the Connecticut State court system for over 25 years. He is tri-lingual (Spanish, German, and English) having been educated in and lived in the Dominican Republic and Austria for a number of years. He has been teaching languages at the German School of CT and local colleges and Berlitz as well for many years. Instructor Oscar Vargas is a native of Colombia, who has lived here since 1969. A graduate of NYU, he worked in international business for about 20 years, and has traveled extensively in Latin America and Spain. He now has his own business. He has taught Spanish here for 20 years.

Spanish: Beginner Part, 2 ~ Day & Evening
A continuation of Beginners Part 1 from Spring 2017. Newcomers with a little experience are welcome. After a brief review, class continues with basic vocabulary, sentence structure, and practical conversation. Please bring the text, Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way (Barrons, 4th Ed.) to class. A continuation of the Fall 2017 class. Newcomers with equivalent experience are welcome. Course will use and review material from beginners classes, will continue to work on pronunciation and vocabulary, and will introduce new grammar concepts. Emphasis will be on practical conversation and short story readings/discussions. Class discussions/conversation will be emphasized. Students should bring the text, Madrigal’s Magic Key to Spanish (Barrons, 4th Ed.) to class. Handouts included. Instructor Oscar Vargas is a native of Colombia, who has lived here since 1969.
