Knitting for Beginners
Now’s the time to start knitting those holiday gift items! Are you looking for ways to have a great gift-giving season but not go into debt? It’s time to start knitting! This age-old art benefits mind, body, and soul. Keep your mind sharp by learning a new skill, keep your fingers nimble by keeping them moving, and experience the joy of giving a gift which is the fruit of your labor. This is a class for beginners. The participant will learn the basic stitches and develop skills in maintaining an even tension in the piece. The instructor will provide practice needles and practice yarn, for a small materials fee, until the participant determines a project. After the selection of project, the participant will purchase the necessary supplies. Projects have included knitting a scarf, sweater, blanket, and handbag. Class size limited. Taught by Lizabeth Doty, a professional educator for over 35 years, has taught knitting to students of all ages. She is a former teacher.

Cables Only - Intermediate/Advanced
Does the thought of cable knitting have you totally confused and all tied up in knots? Explore the basics of this classic knitting technique from deciphering charts to practicing all sorts of cable crossings. This is an opportunity for people with knitting experience to take their hobby to a new level! You will learn how to create an assortment of cable patterns and incorporate them into a stitch sampler. Please bring size 8 or 9 needles and practice yarn (4-ply worsted). Materials Fee: $5 payable to instructor. Class size limited. Adventures in Aran Knitting
Always wanted to learn the fundamentals of Aran Knitting? Now’s your chance! This workshop will introduce you the intricacies of patterned sweaters that include cables, bobbles and other designs. Learn a bit about the origin of these patterns and why they are so popular today. Please bring size 8 or 9 needles and practice yarn (4-ply worsted). Materials Fee: $5 payable to instructor. Rug-Hooking

Get Hooked on Rug-hooking
Learn rug-hooking in one lesson. Then design a project, pillow or wall hanging. Purchase a hooking tool, backing and yarn. Work on your project during the second class and/or on your own. Then finish it at the last class. Please bring a rug-hooking tool, backing, and yarn to the first class. Taught by Theresa Obert. Theresa Obert is a former art teacher who has been teaching adult education art, craft, and cake decorating classes to people lof all ages just for fun.
